The next day sounds pretty harsh. In the interest of the child's educational continuity and friendships (social development), it might be good to give the family a 30 or 60 day grace period to obtain other qualifying employment and to not yank a kid out in May when they would have graduated or finished the year in June.
I think the Developer is less draconian than demanding next day, but that doesn't mean a 30-60 day process isn't initiated the next day, to be realized down the road if other qualifying employment is not obtained.
