Maybe there are differences in the way the lots are laid out in other areas, and I was curious if I was wrong about ours being an easement and not a right-of-way, so I checked my plat map, and here it is. Our property marker flags when we moved in were right at the edge of our yard where it meets the asphalt at the street, and here is my plat map. It is an easement, and only in certain areas. No right of way marked.
I'm not a dog hater and it isn't earth shattering if someone's dog takes a crap in my yard as long as they pick it up (which isn't always the case) but the fact remains that, at least in some neighborhoods, if you are assuming it is fine to walk your dog on the front edge of someone else's lawn because it is a "right of way" you are probably mistaken. Except in Retiredguy123's neighborhood.
