Here's a helpful hint from Ruth Dyer, the decorator. Buy a few sheets of small poster board, say at least 11" x 14", and paint them with various tints of blue that you might like. Then, as Velvet said, carry around and hold up against the wall in all kinds of light to see which works the best.
I also agree that paint colors are often too strong mixed according to the formula. The paint dealer can tinker with the color until you are pleased. We repainted walls before we moved in and it took seven trips to the paint store in one day to get the exact tone we wanted.
So we got the color we wanted. But we hadn't learned at that time another: Choose an eggshell or satin finish over flat. Flat swallows light and in many of these house plans there are not enough windows to capture the light.
