Yours is one of the most mentally healthy posts on this subject. Hope those who appear to be so "insulted" that this tragic event is not "enshrined" forever after in our daily lives, will pause and analyze your comments to a greater degree. We lost two very close friends and one neighbor on our very block. But we also have lost friends to diabetes, in a horrific auto accident, and to cancer. Yet, for the sake of mental health we choose not to build our day around checking the daily stats on all of these...that does NOT mean we think it's "funny" or amusing, as one commenter said. It simply means we are mentally healthy enough not be live in dread or fear (as did Howard Hughes and so many other less "famous" individuals). That CAN lead to poor mental health and even effect their day to day living by "stealing the joy". OF COURSE do not forget those who were lost through this, but these comments about "you must think this is funny", and other such remarks are a bit unfocused, or perhaps they misinterpreted the words and assigned emotions to just written words ?
