I used to attend the annual Christmas program at Walt Disney World. One year, probably about 1988, '89 or '90, we were seated so far back the stage was only a rumor.
It was common then that the Disney folk would keep secret the identity of who would be selected to read the Christmas story from the Bible.
The lights dimmed and a spotlight shone on the lectern. We heard a round of applause from those who could see who was standing there, but to us it was still a mystery.
Then, with the first words spoken, I leaned over to my companion and said "I think everyone knows the world's most famous voice." Walter Cronkite was the night's speaker.
And that's the way it was.
