Most RV's sit around and do nothing most of the time. Maybe an RV club where ownership is shared by 4 or 5 couples. Cost drops to 20% to 30%, use increases, and experiences and information could be shared. I belonged to a flying club where 10 people owned an airplane and it really worked out well. Just have to establish the right bylaws, rules, dues and use fees that make sense for everyone and it could work well. Would have to think through all the items like does everyone get two months, how they are rotated, how does replacement cost work, etc. With the plane, dues covered every cost to have the plane always ready to fly but never fly. Insurance, hanger rent, annual maintenance, reservation answering service, jeppson charts, depreciation and any upgrades agreed on. And use cost were all those that happened when ever it was flown. Fuel, 100 hour inspections, 25 hour oil changes, 1800 hour engine replacement, tires and any other wear and replacement cost.

I would bet the same set up would work with an RV. Should work with anything people need but only use on a limited basis.
