I think the road construction exacerbates the situation. There's just no easy way to get around the congestion and construction legitimately.
That's a non-sequitur. If there was an easy way to get around the congestion, then everyone would do it - and cause congestion in that other place instead. Consider someone going slowly on the highway - everyone moves to the other lane. And then THAT lane gets congested, and eventually the lane you just left ends up being the faster lane.

The reason that spot always has the reflector poles broken is because people choose not to pay attention. Or, they are incapable of paying attention.

I park my golf cart at Petco and walk down to Brooklyn Bagels, or Kohl's, or Ulta, at least once a month. I've never witnessed anyone drive over the curb in the middle of the road but I do see people zooming toward and away from the light on 441 there.

I've also had a few near-misses when parking on the side of Petco, because people come barreling down the driveway from Rolling Acres without even considering that someone MIGHT be entering or exiting before they turned the corner.

Thankfully I have ADD. I can't ignore anything, and see everything. I'm hyper-attentive. It can be incredibly distracting but it's kept me alive for 62 years.
