My confession: for years I silently "disapproved" of our adult children's tendency to go for the most costly brands of autos, clothing, appliances, etc. I was a "prisoner" of my own up bringing, "just because you CAN, does not mean you should" attitude. After spending an extensive time "baby sitting" at the home of an adult child, I finally began to understand their extreme loyalty to Bosch. Fast forward, about 6 months ago, "bit the bullet" and paid the high price for a Bosch dish washer from Lowe's. It took me six months of experiencing this Bosch compared to my life time experiences with less expensive brands: GE (really bad in our experience), Hotpoint (don't know if those are still made ?), Sears brand, can't remember all of them. Can only say nothing has ever come close to this Bosch. Never had a DW that you absolutely can not tell if it is running, or one that did not require dishes to at least be hand rinsed previous to putting into machine, or that would completely clean a glass baking dish that had BURNED on food. At holiday time in Dec. Sister in law grabbed a casserole dish with badly burned residue I had put into DW saying "no, we're going to have to soak that and wash by hand". I told here that with my new DW, none of that was necessary, and told her I was using the same brand of tablets I'd always used. It was definitely the new machine that eliminated all those steps. I guess you could say I am secreting having to "eat crow", considering how I always thought my adult children were "wasting" money.... LOL ! ! ! As for installation... I "think" it was $50, but can't remember for certain. Did NOT take long as it was replacing existing one and no changes had to be made to the plumbing configuration, etc.
They were going to take the old one, but I told them it was already promised to a friend who wanted it for his cabin (it was still working when we bought the new one). That seemed to really upset the Lowe's people, not sure why, since it costs them to dispose of old appliances ! Since they were not going to take it, it was a little tense as they were going to leave it in the middle of the kitchen floor where they put it. After a (not heated) little discussion, they did finally agree to move it to the garage (door from kitchen into garage, so about 8-10 foot move.
