Things have settled down,
Things have settled down in Russia. As long as the Russian Air Force stayed loyal to Putin, the Wagner troops did not have a chance of actually taking over. Interesting to note that the fall out between Putin and Prigozhin started in 2018. Putin ordered Progozhin to take over an oil field in Syria controlled by the Kurds. They were under US protection. Trump, via diplomatic and military channels warned Putin 3 times not to proceed. He did anyway and sent a large column of the Wagner group in without air cover and with only light armor support. Our troops open up with heavy artillery fire followed with helicopter gunships. Intelligence reports were all over the place in terms of casualties, but best guess at the time was 200 Wagner group KIA and many more wounded. There were no American casualties (which is why is did not make much news). About 90 of the KIA were Russian citizens, the others were mostly middle eastern. Since then there has been a steady decline in trust between the Wagner group and the Russian military which has been exacerbated by recent events in Ukraine.
