I have lived in Florida for 30 years. Plastic, exposed to the elements, gets dry and brittle and then cracks. This is in a blind corner of the house, behind a bush, so no string trimming. But, I suppose that a ham-fisted landscaper might have hit it with a hedge trimmer blade. Anyway, the new piece is in place, so I'll keep watch from no on.
