Never worked on an electric, but my guess would be yes, you could just flip it over with no spill concerns. When I change the oil on a gas mower I run the gas dry first, drain the oil, then flip it to change the blade. Then I put it upright and add the fluids. Alternatively I put the mower on the bed of my pickup truck on blocks so I can easily work underneath it while keeping it upright. My other method (when up north), is to lift the mower up to an easy working level with the bucket of my tractor and work underneath it from there.
