Have been here for 12 years. Even when we do not get hit directly by a hurricane, we have to pay for it through increased insurance. The rebuilding efforts on homes damaged by the current hurricane will likely drive up the price of lumber and plywood. Personally, I would NOT move to Fl. and the Villages now - the homes are too expensive and the summers are too HOT. If you can afford 2 homes and live up north during the summers, then The Villages might be attractive because there is a lot to DO. But, if it was going to be a ONE-home deal, then I would look into Tn., and the Carolinas. For example, Crossville TN. has inexpensive homes and lifestyle. And there are pretty many things to do.
