I had another alternate theory. Unfortunately it has been pretty much proven wrong. But the path along Megisson by Lake Denham and Dabney is just as wide as the multi-modal up at Sawgrass. I heard the reason we have to go on Megisson is that Lake County (or maybe it was Leesburg) doesn't allow golf carts on "sidewalks". Therefore they couldn't make these multi-modal. My hope was that law would change for the Villages and then they could remove the 2 outside poles and have one in the center. Again many people pointed out my flawed thinking and it won't happen. But it was a nice idea.  |
Multi-modal paths aren't sidewalks. They're multi-modal paths. There are plenty on the Lake County side of The Villages, and they are open to pedestrians, bicycles, golf carts, electric wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and roller (or inline) skaters.
