I feel for those folks there, but Windermere “W” usually gets what they want. They are a mega giant US developer of real estate and I’m sure they will attempt to make it a classy place.
That whole area is ripe for commercial development. 44 and 44 A will be unrecognizable in 10 years.

Most villagers not going pay to play there. Probably go way of pool halls in few short years?
