Building near Pickleball Courts?
 

I'm looking for thoughts from people that have built near pickleball courts. If you had it to do over again would you have built (or purchased) further away? If so how far? I'm looking to pick out a lot soon and build. Just thinking I may want to consider this as I make my selection. Thanks in advance for taking the time to share.

Our friends are about a block from pickleball courts. They wouldn’t do that again! “Noise” matters to us too but some get use to it. To each their own!

We live 3 blocks from the turnpike, have backed up to a crossroad, train one block over. I would live anywhere but near a pickle ball court

When looking for our home, I was careful to avoid being too close to a PB court. If you are around, just go for a walk around some courts.

We are in between the Allamanda courts (4 courts), and the Sea Breeze courts (6 courts). I would guess, as the crow flies, about 2500 feet from Sea Breeze, and 2,000 feet from Allamanda, with plenty of houses in between. Sometimes outside, on the street, I can hear the play, but just barely.

The Allamanda courts have homes right behind them. I would not want to live there.

Years back when we picked out our lot we had NO IDEA what it would be like... didn't really think about pickle ball at that time and ignored what we knew would be tennis courts in the future. Thought having our backyard nearly touching rec center property would be a POSITIVE.....LOL ! What a mistake ! Not only the early mornings, but can't even enjoy an evening on lanai until dark !

Ditto, a block away is WAY TOO CLOSE ! And property that adjoins the high school..... don't forget it's not just Friday night games when the gigantic flood lights are on and the band marches... they also hold band practice. Friend bought villa directly behind and has regretted it since the fall of the first year when school started in Aug of that year.

Quarter mile from PB court. Sitting on the lanai trying to read and regularly hear the "KTONK KTONK". Not too bad from this distance. But, then, my hearing is pretty bad, but I still don't wear hearing aids, so who knows how bad it really is.

Major Pickleball
 

Wildwood has decided to rubber stamp and has approved huge pickleball courts to be built across from the Village of Lake Deaton. Just off of 44A.

18-acre project expected to include a 120-room hotel, 70 pickleball courts, 21,250 square feet of retail space, 10,000 square feet of restaurant space and 5,000 square feet of office space.

Just think, there are even night lights for evening play.

I feel for those folks there, but Windermere “W” usually gets what they want. They are a mega giant US developer of real estate and I’m sure they will attempt to make it a classy place.

That whole area is ripe for commercial development. 44 and 44 A will be unrecognizable in 10 years.

My wife and I have stayed near and far away from pickleball courts
Far away is our recommendation.
I would also avoid traffic through route streets, and any street that has access to a golf cart short cut.

Well, compared to what it was 10 years ago, it's unrecognizable now. Like all development, it's good for some people, bad for some people, and if successful, really really good for some people.
Most of us want development to proceed to a point where we feel our enjoyment has been maximized, and then stop. it almost never happens that way, though.

I love the sound when I'm playing, but couldn't stand living near the courts.

I'm about 1,000 feet away from rec center pickleball courts (Village rec center - not one of the large regional ones), plenty of houses & vegetation inbetween. I can only hear them when I am outside - never inside of the house (concrete block). When I am outside & hear them the sound is faint & doesn't bother me. I certainly would not want to be any closer.

We live maybe a block and a half (as the crow flies) from P.B. court. IF we have windows/doors open we can hear them but it's not intrusive. Never when they're closed.
Looks from some of the other's posts here---it just depends. I'd never want my house to back up to a center---the pools, courts etc., but that's just me.

When we lived up north, we once backed up to a park that had tennis courts and that was annoying when our windows were open. Particularly when someone decided early in the morning was a great time to play.

If the land is cheaper and within walking distance, you're in the sweet spot. Go for it!

We live about 500 feet away from PB courts. Can only hear the sound when outside. Doesn’t bother us. A happy sound. Much better than a highway!
