I used to work for the RR running trains into the city [14 yrs ago]. I stay in touch with a few coworkers that tell me it's ALOT worse now. Homeless people are more aggressive, random attacks are more often. I feel there are much better places in the US I would visit first.
We have a 3 week road trip coming up in Sept. Vegas to New Orleans, should prove to be interesting.
