People stupidly think admitting drinking but not drinking a lot will gain them leniency. This is an incorrect assumption. If an officer asks if you’ve been drinking he has already determined that you’ve been drinking. The only correct answer to this question is “I exercise my right to remain silent.” Then they should refuse a field sobriety test and refuse a breathalyzer. Of course if they are drunk enough to be impaired they don’t always make these correct decisions.
