It does not take imagination. Just an understanding of physics, the Florida environment, and what is a comfortable temperature for a pool owner and his or her intended use of the pool.
Pools warm
slowly during the day. They radiate the warmth back into space at night. They radiate during the day, too, but there is a sure energy net loss at night. They also lose energy convectively when the air is below the pool temperature at all hours, and more so when there is air flow. Pool covers can help, but they still are not going to give you a warm pool in the winter and they get quite dirty.
