In the past where I worked you were required to back in parking. It was at a refinery. Two reasons, one when parking you can back into a spot while seeing the area is clear and no crossing traffic behind you. 2) In an emergency, backing out of a parking spot interferes with traffic flow in an emergency.
The wait time for some one crossing in front of you is almost no different than waiting for someone to back into a spot. Don't they teach you patience at your church? Shame, shame, shame.....

The other reason for backing into a space is personal readiness. My friend's dad used to say, "If you're always ready, you never have to GET ready."
If you have 2 seconds before you arrive somewhere to back into a space safely, do so, because when seconds count pulling out from being backed in is much safer and faster. This is why many first responders prefer to back into spaces whenever possible.
