The Epitome of some Villages residents sense of entitlement?

Meggison Rd southbound (2 lanes) adjacent to Southern Oaks Starter's shack: Guy parks his car in the curb lane, vacates car, and lugs his clubs to the starters shack.

Another first world problem. I don’t know which is worse, the “entitled Villagers or the ones who need to constantly point them out?

From my perspective, I see pointing these incidences out on this forum a much healthier response than many of the acting out behaviors by Villagers I have witnessed in similar situations.

In my opinion, the reason such incidents are noteworthy here in TV is because of their rarity. The overwhelming number of Villagers, again in my opinion, would never dream of doing such a thing.

I’m not condoning his actions, but the setup at that place is very unique and confusing, especially if it was his first time there. Having the pro shop across the street, buried in the Sawgrass marketplace building, with no clubhouse and associated parking, could have thrown the guy for a loop. He might have been asking the starter, “where the hell do I park, pay, and get a rental cart”?

I agree. It's a goofy set-up. Unlike any other course in TV. I am baffled by the arrangement, and baffled trying to figure out what the designers were thinking when they created it. I've played there enough times to know how it works, but it took me a few times to figure it out. It's particularly unwieldy when someone coming by car has to hook up with a cart partner.

I can honestly state that on the few occasions that I was unsure of where to go/park, it NEVER occurred to me to park in a lane of MOVING TRAFFIC!!!

I give him ZERO on the list of excuses. More than likely he was sharing a cart with his buddy who was already at the starter shack and he was too lazy to carry his clubs over from the parking lot.

Perhaps championship courses, but for executive courses north of 44, this is pretty much the norm, having someone come pick you up in their cart from a remote parking lot.

Does this also apply to any plaza you pull into and the cars stopping to let the passengers out in front of their destination, then they go park?

Agree, and yet, when I grab a morning coffee, or an afternoon break, flip open my laptop, and don't think I could find anything more entertaining than our own little community social media site. Too bad when James Michener wrote his novel Recessional about retirement communities in Florida, it was before the era of "social media sites", or he surely would have interwoven that aspect into his fiction based on face novels.

roob1 06-21-2024 02:26 PM

It is so common for cars to stop in plazas to let out passengers. I think most of us expect this and despite not liking it, are on the alert for this as we drive 10MPH. Parking a car in a traffic lane of 35MPH with no warning lights, cones etc., creates a much more dangerous situation.

WOW! Nuggets of steel or simply devoid of even one working brain cell? Wife and I see jerks and/or idiots on virtually every outing.

There are obnoxious people involved in any and every activity. Golfing is extremely popular, so there are just more golfers and consequently more stories.
