From my research some of these have side effects that people were not happy with. Also, there are some eye problems that cannot be corrected with new lens, specifically if you need a prism or if you have astigmatism, I have both so I went with the standard lens corrected for distance, and glasses for reading and these two corrections. I have been wearing glasses since age 11 so it was not a big deal to continue. I have 20/15 for distance without my glasses, and about the same for everything else with my glasses. Also, Medicare does not cover the LASER type surgery, I opted for the traditional knife, with no problems.

Hope this helps.
Might the stand on LASER use have changed? Straight from the Medicare website: "Things to know
If Medicare covers cataract surgery in your area, you can get it using traditional surgical techniques or lasers."
