I just got off the phone with The Villages Insurance, I called them because I was thinking of upgrading my asphalt shingle roof to a metal shingle roof. I asked them if a metal roof has the same stupid 15-year rule about replacement or being dropped by the insurance company. I was asking because the metal roofs cost a lot more but have a 50-to-100-year life. There answer to me was yes it falls under the same Florida roof requirement depending on which insurance company you use.
My question to anyone with a metal roof has this happen to you, have you had an increase in your insurance due to the age of your roof.
