Concrete shingles will last much longer and are wind proof. We have some on the beach house. They had to do some work in the attic and redo the plywood on top, but they are great during storms.

Concrete tile roofs are NOT necessarily "wind proof."
Flat tile roofs offer more protection that s-shape or barrel tile styles but the roof's pitch is probably even more important that the shape of the tile.
