Wow. Interesting.
When we first moved here I woke up one morning after a rain and saw about five or six things about 1" - 1.5" long, black on top, on the floor in our lanai. I thought they were leaves off some of the plants we have out there (wind with the rain) and didn't think anything of it. However the cat was staring intently at them so I paid a bit more attention. They were slugs. The cat could see them move but I couldn't unless I looked at them with more than just a casual glance. Anyway, not ever having such a problem in Minnesota and not having the vaguest idea what to do, I called a pest-control company. Florida Pest Control. Ended up buying several services from them; pest control, lawn weeding and fertilizing, etc.). No more slugs. In fact almost no critters of any kind except for two dead cockroaches in the garage.
Anyway...I'd call a pest control company. Far better than guessing or applying "fixes" that may or (more likely) may not work.
