1. clean your existing post.
2. use a medium-grit sandpaper to smooth out any rough patches that have accumulated over the years.
3. clean it again.
4. open paint can
5. insert brush
6. paint with smooth up and down strokes.
7. close paint can
8. clean brush when finished
