We’re building new in Well Point, but our current home in the Florida panhandle has potable water distribution via PEX in the attic. I hate it! I have had the PEX freeze once in five winters; it was in the teens. The worst, however, is the heat of the water in the summer. I certainly like VillageTinker’s suggestion about piping at the ceiling/wall junction. I won’t ask what benefits you see in having the softener near the sink unless the move makes dealing with waste water easier.
