Many times coupons are issued that are good for one day only. It seems nervey to try to use a January 24 coupon on March 3. Why would you even have kept it if not to use an invalid coupon. In my experience it seems all arguments start out quietly then build in volume or erupt, but always start out quietly. In your case maybe the manager had already been arguing with the waitress about accepting the coupon, then started in on you. I’m not condoning the managers action, and if I were you I wouldn’t go back either.
