Horrific Experience at Mallory Dining 3/5/25

Absolutely truthful about this experience!!
Two couples went to Mallory on Wed. evening 3/5/25, for Pizzas.
I had a promo coupon for a "BOGO" offer showing "Valid 1/24/25", no expiration date.
Showed the coupon to the waitress in advance of ordering, she was very nice, said it should work just fine. Ordered, and got two fine pizzas.
Proceeded to pay with C.C. and coupon, waitress proceed with no problems.
The a few minutes later a male who said he was a manager, came to our table waving
the coupon, in an extremely loud voice said the coupon was not valid, and that I was trying to scam them. I was shocked at his attitude. I tried to ask a question as to why
it was not valid, as there was no expiration date anywhere. He just continued to virtually scream at me, with the entire dining area looking to see what was happening. He was right in my face, I told him to leave as I'll pay for everything.
He finally left in a "Huff", then a number of nearby dinners expressed absolute
shock to me that this took place.
Upon leaving I stopped by the registration desk to ask what his name was as he had no name badge. She turned away and went to get him. As I saw him coming he growled very loudly "What do you want now?" I said I don't want to talk to him, just
what his name was. His reply " we don't need people like you dinning here" I said
fine will never come back but what is your name, "he again exploded extremely yelling "I should smack you right in your face". My reply was "your an *******, I am leaving", (people in the waiting area were shocked). I went out the door with him following me outside, screaming obscenities at me, I continued to leave.
Comment: This is absolutely what took place witnessed by my wife and the other couple with us.
Unbelievable that Mallory would have a person like this function as a manager.
All this over a simple misunderstanding of the valid date on a promo coupon.
Needless to say never going back to Mallory again.

Where did get the coupon out of paper? I hardly ever use coupons, IMO are draw get into restaurants. I don’t even like using gift cards, but with cost or steak nowadays for 6 Oz piece I will. I also never order water. But I rarely eat out. Rarely for me once month..

Source of the coupon? Did they have a camera…would love to see that story play out.

The manger could have just said, sorry we don’t honor coupons without expiration date. Then , if manager got negative feed back, say sorry it’s management rules. If it gets ugly at least management would probably have law on their side in case someone tries to skip out? Way this played out if he’s not owner or related he will probably get boot?

So I'm assuming no one in your party bothered to take out their cell phones and make a video??

Bogie Shooter 03-07-2025 05:42 PM

This thread has info about ownership and management.
Bet they would love to hear this story……

Coupon is not the issue…
But why would a manager shout at a customer in the middle of the dining room? Get away with it.

Once the person (manager?) followed the customer out of the building, a phone call to Sheriffs department would be warranted. Can’t believe not one person pulled out a cell to video the entire thing.

OP once you contacted the restaurant group, have there been any explanation of the bizarre behavior. The threat of Violence, should have been dealt with immediately with proper authorities, especially if witnesses were available

That said, I never would stop going to a restaurant, unless I personally had an issue.

My first reaction is one of disbelief of the situation as has been described. As is usual in these situations the other side of the story would be very helpful. Not saying an incident didn't happen but what are the real facts? The title of the post is "absolutely truthful about this experience" which gives me pause.

My thoughts too

From the originator, this story has not been embellished, it is what happened.

MarshBendLover 03-07-2025 09:18 PM

They should have some sort of camera system or else they are some type of clown operation. If they don't, then they are asking for trouble if someone makes a claim about an injury and no way to disprove the claim. This is a reason to have a camera, to either protect the staff from or a customer or customer from staff.:rant-rave:

I think we will stay clear until they handle this appropriately on here.

jimhoward 03-07-2025 10:19 PM

So I gather the bogo offer was valid just for the one day.

The described absurd over reaction to a customer mistakingly submitting an invalid coupon for redemption is hard to imagine.

But it seems like it all worked out. The OP got “two fine pizzas” but because of a crazy management interaction he won’t ever come back. And the manager doesn’t ever want him back. Win-win.

I agree, the wording on the coupon clearly suggests it was only valid on that one day. But the manager surely handled it very badly. It is surprising that the server did not know it was a one day promotion but perhaps he/she was new. That must have been a very busy pizza day at Mallory.

Per the post, it is indicated that the coupon stated "Valid 1/24/25". That is 1 1/2 months ago. It didn't say 1/23/25 or 1/26/25 or forever. My button was pushed when I saw the comment that No Expiration date stated as a reason coupon still valid. Discussions over that "incorrect Assumption" must have been interesting.
