I think I make almost as many putts as pros from 2 feet. But my percentage is way lower at 4 or 5 feet. No statistics to back this up, its my subjective feel. Anybody else have a similar impression?

I agree. But I will add that physics tells you that the margin for error for missing a putt when the ball is moving too fast is reduced on a fast green. If you plot the ball speed vs distance travelled, you will see that the distance during which the ball is travelling slow enough to fall into the hole is longer on a fast green. So, as long as you hit the ball hard enough to get to the hole, you will make more putts on a fast green than on a slow green.
