I live in TV…. I fell one year ago and broke my patella in half ( you could visibly see this even without an X-ray) ….. called 911 and they took me to Leesburg hospital ER and when i questioned why, they told me that’s where the Orthopedic surgeon was. I was X-rayed and confirmed I needed surgery but there was actually not an on call surgeon there, they were at TV hospital but the surgeon, Dr Alfred J Cook didn’t feel it was necessary for me to be transferred there and they discharged me. In Leesburgs defense, the staff tried for 5 hours to get me transferred knowing I needed emergency surgery but also told me that TV didn’t want to take me due to in being a Friday and the weekend etc. I was shocked but most importantly, due to the delay it took me to find a surgeon and get the surgery on my own resulted in 4 surgeries and a fifth on the way and my leg is stuck straight due to scar tissue formation which most definitely occurred due to the delay in surgery. So, YES, the right ER can make all the difference.
