Maybe it’s our age but lately we have stayed away from huge crowds. Just not our “cup of tea” any more. Previously we have attended three US Opens, but the Open at St. Andrew’s we planned, we had to cancel because of knee replacement. We did get to go on a tour that included St. Andrew’s. I must say we experienced the best hospitality ever at St. Andrew’s Golf Club. We walked a couple holes and got our photo taken on the bridge before the golfers got around to the 17th and 18th hole. What other iconic place can beat that type of hospitality? Augusta National is a beautiful venue, maybe the most beautiful golf course in the world, but when your at the Masters you just have a different feeling around the green jacket club members of the Augusta National Golf Club. I can’t imagine the Augusta National Golf Club doing anything similar for a visitor to their iconic golf course.
BTW Scottie Scheffler, world’s number one, is at top of the leaderboard after three rounds at Royal Portrush Open. Go Scottie!
