First of all, there is no way to repair the type of windshield damage you are describing. And, the damage you are describing is covered by your comprehensive insurance after applying the deductible, assuming that you have the entire windshield replaced. Some insurance companies will waive the deductible if the windshield can be repaired, but not replaced. This type of repair involves injecting an epoxy to repair a chip or crack. I think your detail guy is incorrect that all insurance companies will waive the deductible when you have a windshield replaced, regardless of how the windshield was damaged. In fact, I doubt that any insurance company will waive the deductible for a replacement windshield.
