Back in the day I commuted to work between Northampton, MA and Hartford, CT for almost 30 years. During my daily 100 mile round trip commute I put over 300 thousand miles on my trusty Acura, and the windshield was so dinged up with spray from the crap they put in the road during the winter it was very dangerous to drive the car at night with the refraction from headlights coming in the other direction. Talk about a risk to my insurance company, who refused to replace a completely dinged up windshield. After a quick swift hit with a seven iron, they gladly paid for a new windshield. It very well might have saved them a much larger claim because of an accident caused by lack of visibility. The ironic part was that a couple weeks later a truck kicked up a rock that put a huge crack in the brand new windshield, which they covered again. Insurance company karma at its best?
