We have a confession to make…Yes, it’s been something weighing on our minds these last few years. It might seem wordy, but it’s quite true:

“When we live and work in The Villages each day, each week, and each month…We continually hear about folks who have “answered doors to roofing solicitors” — that got caught-up in roofing scams, FL fraud in the 3rd degree, and where they signed their legal rights away to a heartless sales person (who has never installed a roof nor been educated in the field) — who earns a commission just to have a boss sitting back at an office lining his/her pockets. All the while hiring unlicensed/ non-liability subcontractors.

We have heard of “so many” Villagers being seduced by words like “free roof”, “we will fly a drone”, “we were just down the street”, “roof looks bad from down here”, and the like. Folks, these are all sales tactics and ploys to get you to hand your rights over to them. Most of the time they are simply lies and misinformation. These individuals are the ones responsible for insurance costs skyrocketing and a massive exodus of carriers leaving the state (FL).

Next time you are solicited, take a moment to think about what is actually happening. Should they be soliciting? Why did they just show up?

Quickly ask these people to “turn around and depart”; Most of them are listed on Sheriff’s Dept, Seniors Vs. Crime, DA’s Office, and the like. Many of these companies are in class actions suits but continue to persuade vulnerable Villagers into signing at the dotted line — Then to find out they have attorneys in litigation/mediation. Eventually, insurance carriers will make it seemingly impossible to get quality coverage in this Hurricane State.

We don’t believe in roof solicitation or pushy fraud sales, but it is an unfortunate aspect of living in Paradise.
