I believe we need to have something happen to us along the lines of what just happened in the UK. They had 3 major parties running and no majority emerged. The Conservatives and teh Liberal Democrats got together and in NINE DAYS outlined a series of compromises for the good of the country (I wonder what the Labor Party is thinking now). Some details:

I especially noted where they say it was more than just adopting policies where their ideology overlapped.

Look at the table in that article where they list some of the huge compromises.

- Partially privatizing the Royal Mail. Now, while the USPS is outside the government and has been since the 1970s, you'd never see this here. Union domination to say the least. (My ex-wife has worked there for over 7 years and refuses to join the unions)

- Revamping NHS (National Health System). Think of this as Medicare/Medicaid reform.

- "Free schools" - making it easier for 'outsiders' to set up new 'free schools' in the public system. Think of this as allowing a private school to be funded with public money.

- The Border Force to now be a part of the Serious and Organized Crimes Agency.

These are only some of the agreements that came out of the negotiations. Does anyone think for a New York Minute that we, in this country, could do something like this in less than two weeks? Could the Democrats and Republicans get together and put their petty partisan politicking and demagoguery aside for the good of the country?

No. Because as long as one party has a majority, they don't HAVE to. The majority party can do as it pleases and the minoruity party can complain about it and make gains in the next election.

If we split a national election 3 ways - THAT might be the wake-up call. If *nobody* had a majority, maybe THEN we could get our legislooters to do their jobs properly.
