I would remind everybody that living in the Villages does not shield you from real life. Don't forget there was a drug related homicide in The Villages a few years ago (in a private home). I was called for jury duty for that murder trial.
There have been dozens of home invasions, many of them while the homeowners were present.
Life in the Villages is wonderful, but please don't ever think that you are immune from real crimes being committed against you.
Most people choose not to carry a gun. Those that do are within their rights and have a slight upper hand when faced with a life threatening situation.
