I also lost a great tiny swiss army pocket knife I didn't realize was in the pocket of a coat I grabbed to take up north. It had a 1 and a half inch blade on it, and God knows what could have happened if they allowed me to keep it.
Everyone has to make up their own mind about being irradiated every time they fly and let some hidden TSA agent view the virtual strip search images that are produced. I'm guessing the new "profiling" measures will mean something quite different for women and young girls.
I also thought the pat downs I've endured in the past were bad enough, but now they're described as "probing". You can make up your own mind about this, but what about the children? ("Listen Johnny and Susie, only Mommy, Daddy, the doctor and Government Officials are allowed to touch your private parts")
I will be driving up north in the future, or riding the rails, and avoiding my frequent flying. If everyone does as I do, the TSA will eventually cave or the airlines will fail.
