The way I insure the safety of my home and family is to always lock my doors whether it's day or night time, to use motion sensor lights, and to always be aware of my surroundings. Being aware of my surroundings also means knowing that there is a fair amount of property crime in TV while crimes against people is quite low. And, I never place myself in a position of becoming a potential target, which would then impact my family, and those called upon to protect, or rescue me.

While I love TV as much as anyone, I am not willing to take on the responsibility of causing a false sense of security by saying there is no crime in TV. That would be an injustice to others, who then may not take precautions.
Very well said.
