You are right,when queen palms are very close to the home, the roaches nest exactly where the branches meet the trunk,roaches then crawl up the branches,onto the roof,under the shingles, and eventually find there way into your home.
I had that problem,removed palm trees,roach problem gone, about 2 months later after roaches under shingles finally died.
