Just this week I saw a program on TV that addressed a problem just like you described above. The program was on Animal Planet and it's called
"My Cat From Hell." The episode was called "Sharing the Bed." It's too bad you couldn't have seen it as in the program cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy resolved their problem in about 4 weeks IIRC. I've found a trailer on the program you can view and there is a way you can see the whole program, but it involves installing some program on your computer. The link is on the page I'm providing at the bottom of the list, and on that page you can select the episode I mentioned above that's on the list. It was on top when I found it, but not sure if it will be there when you check. You might have to scroll down.
