since we also suffer the same insensitivities of pet owners in nj and tv because owners would not train their dogs to potty in their yards only, we were forced to train them ourselves.

i sought the advice of my vet re how to accomplish this and he told me to apply pepper/hot pepper to the perimeter of our lawn area. this does not injure the dog - just makes it stop seeking out that place to leave their mark.

my nj dog walkers now walk briskly past our property and our villages neighbors have taken to crossing the street to avoid our lawn! i find i can stock up when spices go on sale or i get them in a dollar store. application needs to be repeated every few weeks or after a rain storm.

this same maintainence program has worked well to rid our yard of a couple of gophers who moved in after neighbors eliminated their extensive garden! now if i could figure out how to get rid of the neighborhood geese fly-bys!
