We have several feeders in our back yard. So far, we have not attracted any snakes or rats. We have started to sterilize our bird seed by heating to 300F for 30 minutes in the oven. This way none of it sprouts when the birds dig it out of the feeder to get to the better seeds. We tried attracting hummingbirds in the spring but no luck. We'll try again this fall.
