Yeah, it almost seems like the same thing to me too. If you eat salty foods it goes to your digestive system and eventually into your blood stream. From your blood stream it gets distributed to all parts of your body (cells). If you inhale salt you get a direct hit to your lungs but it seems it would also go to your blood stream and get distributed throughout your body.
The question is: how much salt are we talking about? Perhaps it's not enough to do any harm and yet provides some relief. Is it supervised by a doctor? Is it just for the purpose of short term relief? In order for The Salt Room to be doing what they do, it must be approved by the FDA. Although, I suppose they could do it without FDA approval as long as they don't make any health promises.
