You were fortunate to run into one of those kids! I love talking with the young ones who are so nonplussed and have no pretence about what they know.
They just come in with this ability and come out with the darndest explanations. He must have chosen good parents who were able to keep his curiosity alive and nurture the skills and he was born at the right time to get into the software field.
I have a nephew who is now working for Twitter who from an early age seemed to "know" what the computers were all about. He was a gameboy kid and we had no idea what he was doing sitting in the corner with this thing or where it would lead. We didn't know if he would ever become more sociable and now he is into social media and the friendliest of people.
Another example of things all happening for a reason and everything being at the right time, even when we don't understand why. I have really come to embrace that outlook and it has served me well.
