Try putting a plastic extender on the downspout and direct it to a concrete pad that takes the force of the falling water. secondarily, dig a dry well, fill it with fairly large stone and direct the effluent into it. Either will work and is considerably cheaper than installing french drains (assuming the only heavy runoff is via downspouts.)
