When I had T&D add a spillover spa to our pool, I also had them install an auto-fill. It was one of the simplest, best, inexpensive decisions I ever made. No more dragging the hose into the birdcage, waiting forever while the 5/8-inch garden hose dribbled away into the pool, etc.

Of course, the auto-fill is also an "auto-empty", keeping the water level constant even after heavy rainstorms. No more dragging that blue hose off the pump and emptying the pool after those summer gulley-washers.
