If a hostess doesn't seat a large group until all have arrived does that give us the right to short the server? Personally, my view is that food is the most important focus of a restaurant. Giving good service, obviously what that entails is debatable. If there is a backlog in the kitchen, it isn't the fault of the server if food is delayed. If the hostess doesn't seat a group until all have arrived that isn't the fault of the server. Servers shouldn't not be tipped in my view. It is their livelihood. Even if their service is subpar, we contracted with them to bring us the food and they should be paid for that service.
