Glenview Champions Restaurant
What a Golfer unfriendly joint. 77 year old female friend was a dinner guest at my house last night, Friday 4/26. Told a story about joinning her golf group at Glenview for lunch between 1:30 - 2:00. The story was identical to one I've previously experianced several times at Glenview. Blonde Hostess, not a kid, says how many. Answer 12. Asks, are they all here. Answer, no they are coming off the golf course. Response, won't seat anyone until all are here.
When this happened there were a number of tables available. Hostess tone was nasty tending toward rude. Ok, you ask, did you ask for the Manager? Answer no. Why not? Because this has happened many times before and management has never supported the customer point of view. Been there and done that. Don't these fools know that when you tell them that you need table(s) for 12golfers that in a few minutes all the tables will be full and they will end up with about $150 in revenue. Appartenty they don't. Add this to my personal incident about a week ago when the Blonde Barmaid/Manager refused to serve a golf group because two golfers did not tip her several weeks earlier because her attitude on that occassion was disgraceful. Couldn't talk to the Manager on that occassion since the Blonde Barmaid said she was the Manager. It doesn't get much worse. |
My question would be - why do you continue to go back???
|
Suggest you not go back.......................
|
Suggest you leave a box of brunette hair color as a tip next time. :D
It's a joke folks, my wife is a blond......with three masters. . |

Our golf group suffered the same issue some time ago. They started seating our group when each foursome arrived. We were not seated together. I was in the last group. When I informed the hostess that our group was present, (three of us standing by her) she asked where the fourth was. I told her he was in the mens room washing his hands. She stated " when he comes out I will then seat you". Talk about someones blood boiling. After that incident we went to Beef's. I also told the hostess that we would not return, she didn't care.

the "manager" is obviously just an employee.....manger = title to be able to close at night.....ask for the owner who will not be there, get their name and address and let them know what is happening.
Business owners will not condone such disrespectful running of their business. btk |
AT Glenview Friday. ordered a Hot Dog with Mustard and relish. They would not bring relish because it was a dollar extra. YES a dollar extra for relish. Give me a break

I have ALWAYS had great food and service at Glenview. It did not matter if our group was completely there or not - we got seated at tables large enough to accomodate the whole group.
For those who said they would go to Beef's since there was no place handy to Glenview - what about Nancy Lopez Legacy Club? It is no more than 10 minutes by golf cart up Buena Vista from Glenview and there is absolutely no better food in The Villages than Lopez. Great Happy Hour, too. I have heard a complaint about Glenview, though, from a golfing friend. He and a few others at the table ordered ice water and then added their own Crystal Light lemonade to the water. The waiter said he was going to charge them 75 cents and they all got irate and demanded to see the manager. Long story short is that they got away with it one time - but they still do it in every restaurant they go to. Cheapskates, to say the least. No class or lack of upbringing is more like it, though. |

That's taking being gauche.....to a whole new level. As many stories as there are about bad/rude establishments and their employees, I'll bet they have more than a few to tell too. . |
I also think the food is great, but, one day I went in their with a client. We arrived at approx. 2:30 for lunch. My client is a regular at Glenview. The hostess seated us over looking the golf course. There were a couple of other people eating. We sat there for 15 minutes before a waitress came to our table. Order was taken and food came out quickly. While we were eating a waitress started sweeping the floors while we were eating. I politely asked if she could wait till we were done eating as it was dusty. She answered, sorry, but, we need to get this room cleaned up. I said ok, but, I do not wanting you sweeping while I am eating.. She rudely throw the broom to the ground and walked away. After about 7 minutes she came back and started sweeping a gain. I was appalled! I sent an email to the manger and never heard back... Have not been there since, will I go again.. I really do not know...

I believe it is standard policy at all restaurants to seat a large group only after everyone has arrived.

I was at Glenview last night, it is our "local" and we are there two or three times a week. We know the blonde hostess and the majority of the wait staff and have never been treated rudely or with disrespect, but then we have never taken our own drinks in there and have never asked for water to make our own lemonade.
Glenview is situated in a very affluent part of TV, it is not unusual to see diners arriving in jackets and ties and ladies in dressy dresses. I have watched the blonde hostess take the arm of regulars who need assistance and help them to their seats. I cannot think of a time when I was at Glenview when it was not busy with people waiting to be seated. We have been there for lunch, dinner, to drink in the lounge and for special occasion meals and can honestly say we have always been treated with courtesy. We have very often met friends in the lobby area and have been asked to wait for our party to arrive before being seated; for whatever reason, this is their policy and it has never bothered us. On the other hand, we dropped in to Beefs on 466 recently and took a booth. In the middle of the floor there was a "team" of ladies celebrating a win of some sort. Their language and the noise they were making was excessive and the manager asked them to leave, whereupon they set about all the people sitting around them, cursing us out and screaming and throwing money on the floor. The little girl clearing the table apologized to everyone and had to fumble on the ground to pick up the coins they had thrown under the table ................. |

Right here in The Villages your theory is disproven at Hacienda Hills, Tierra Del Sol, Bonifay, Evans Prarie and Cane Garden who pleasantly greet you. accommodate your seating requirements and seat and serve each group immediately. Don't try this at Mallory Hill however, as it's operated by the same people who run Glenview. |
