We tried to buy garlic in the Farmers Market and there is only one vendor that sells it. The price is $2.00 each head. Outrageous! They said it was imported from Mexico and made it sound special.

We just bought 4 heads from Publix for $2.19 (2.99/lb) imported from Mexico.

The reason for the post is I was told by other vendors that they are not allowed to sell garlic due to an agreement that this vendor has with The Villages. This vendor is not selling product from Florida or even the USA and has priced it at an unreasonable price. They describe it in a way to make you think they imported themselves, which I doubt.
If the garlic is priced too high market dynamics will adjust the price to the demand. It may take a few weeks but it always seems to work out.
