John you didn't say if this was your
first time to The Villages.
If you have never done it I would recommend going to the sales office @ Lake Sumter and getting on the tour bus. It's a freebie an It gives you a decent view of The Villages but mostly very informative. There is no obligation, just tell them you want to check out The Villages.
When we were looking we never met any pushy sales people so no one is going to "bother" you. The Villages sells itself an ask if they have any free maps. There is a really good one but it cost, I think $5.00. Enjoy
